Why Marjane's Parents Sent Her to Europe

I believe that it was the right thing for Marjane's parents to send her to Europe. If I were a parent I would definitely not want my child living in a country where there are a war and revolution that are only getting worse. I would send her off to live somewhere much more peaceful if I had the option to.

Sending Marjane to another country was probably the smartest thing they could have done. Personally, I believe that they should have sent her to America instead of Europe but that doesn't change the fact that it is a very well made decision on her parents part. It takes her out of the danger in her home country and puts her into a society where she won't mature to be horribly traumatized.

Though there is a quite harsh penalty of going to Europe alone. She would spend her late teens alone in the middle of an unfamiliar city. This led to a few issues such as a smoking addiction and having a rather suspicious group of friends, as well as a bit of discrimination originating from her heritage.

    Going back to the situation of you being a parent, would you travel with your children to another country or send them by themselves like Marjane's parents?

    Knowing her parents were communists would It really be the best idea to sent her to America?

Sayer Charnquist The Best Page in the Book The best page in TBWCD is by far page 115. I've written about this before in a different assignment but when I saw this I couldn't help but write some more about it. The page itself shows, in my opinion, the best parts of the book as a whole. It shows the darkness, the shading, the color palette, the writing, and the style in perfect amazing view. It also portrays the turning point in Bo's life, when he began to hate his father. The inclusion of the bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki also drives home just how important this page is to the story as a whole. And the way that the panels become vertical rectangles is unlike any other page in the book. It's a change up to the method of reading it, it catches your eye, it's wonderfully dark, and it's incredibly important to the story. It could also just be because I have a massive soft spot for fathers in storytelling so this page hit me especially hard.

What Led to Marjane's grandma yelling at her? Marjane's Grandmother yelled at her after she had a man beaten and arrested by police officers for faking sexual assault. She was close to being arrested but said that a random man she just saw had sexually assaulted her, the man was beaten and arrested in her place. She laughed all the way through. When she told this to her grandma she yelled at Marjane. They then lost contact for a long while. I believe that the yelling was deserved. As a human male, I believe that false sexual assault charges are a rather extreme offense. Though that may just be because I can empathize more with the man than with Marjane in this case. I believe that Marjane getting yelled at for it was in fact way too mild of a punishment. Her grandmother was absolutely right in losing contact with her. OHP reflection My experience with the Oral History Project was rather clean and not too stressful. We didn't have any mess ups or issues with scheduling. We interviewed Kirk Rummel, the CFO of Baker Ripley community center. He gave us information about Harvey in a way only a businessman could. I appreciated how he looked at Harvey from a very financial way, citing how it would affect more of Houston's future than it's present. How many businesses would be worried about flooding when they would have moved to Houston. I blame the overall ease of the project to my team members, specifically Elliott, who contacted Kirk and set up the interview single-handedly. I came up with most of the interview questions, Mia conducted the interview, and Nathaniel only did the video (which is understandable he was in China with no internet for 80% of the project time).
